D1: Templates

Text and data templates, display layouts and report presets.

Overview

Templates are reusable building blocks for constructing reports. Each template defines a section of a report — what content it draws from and how it is displayed. Templates are managed via the Templates menu item and are available across all cases.

Note:

Only admin users can create, edit and delete templates and report presets.

Accessing Templates

Click on your initials in the top-right corner of the screen to open the navigation menu. Select Templates from the menu. Templates can also be accessed from within a case via the Templates tab.

Template types

Type

Description

Text

A manually authored text section for introductions, instructions, legal boilerplate or any static content.

Data

A section that pulls data dynamically from the case — either from documents or from episodes — and displays it as a table, chart or in a custom layout.

Data template options

Data source

  • Documents — data is drawn from the documents in the case.

  • Episodes — data is drawn from all episodes in the case workspace.

Display layout

  • Table — records are seen in a structured table with columns per field.

  • Chart — episode data is seen as a visual chart (timeline or bar chart by type).

  • Custom — records are displayed in a personalized arrangement.

Creating a template

  1. Open the Templates tab.

  2. Click CREATE TEMPLATE.

  3. Select the type: Text or Data.

  4. For Text: write your content in the text editor.

  5. For Data: select the data source and display layout.

  6. Click NEXT.

Report preset

A report preset is a saved collection of templates that are in a specific order. Presets let users generate a consistently structured report with one click rather than manually adding templates each time.

  1. Click on your initials in the top-right corner of the screen to open the navigation menu.

  2. Open Report Presets from the top-right navigation menu.

  3. Click CREATE PRESET and enter a name.

  4. In the Templates tab, add templates and drag them to arrange them in order.

  5. In the Settings tab, set the template's header and footer and, if desired, select Team with only access.

  6. Click CREATE.
