D3: Custom Documents

Manually created documents and AI-generated documents with back-references.

Overview

Custom documents are freeform documents that exist within a case alongside the uploaded source documents. They can be created manually or generated automatically by AI features.

Custom documents are stored within the case and appear in the Files tab under the AI Documents collection (for AI-generated ones) or other assigned collections.

Note:

Custom documents can be created and edited by admin and staff users. Presenters can view them in read-only mode.

Creating a custom document

  1. Open the case and click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the case name.

  2. Select Create document.

  3. Select Blank document layout.

  4. Click NEXT.

  5. Enter a name for the document.

  6. Select the Document collection.

  7. Write your content in the text editor.

  8. Click SAVE.

AI-generated documents

When an AI feature — the AI Chat, an automated workflow, or a workspace prompt — generates content, the result is automatically saved as a custom document in the case. AI-generated documents are stored in the AI Documents collection.

AI-generated documents include numbered back-references: each statement links back to the specific source pages used to produce it. These appear as clickable numbered links (e.g. [1], [2], [3]) within the document text.

The right panel of an open AI document provides:

  • Validation Analysis — checks that the AI's statements are supported by the referenced source pages.

  • Statement-by-Statement Review — a breakdown of each statement with its supporting evidence.

  • Overall Assessment — shows key issues in the AI's statements.

  • Validation Score — shows a statement`s score on a 10-point scale with a rational explanation.

Working with back-references

Click on any numbered reference link (e.g. [5]) in the document text to navigate to the source page that supports that statement. This allows you to verify AI-generated content directly against the original documents.

Editing and deleting custom documents

Manually created documents can be edited at any time — open and click the edit icon. AI-generated documents can also be edited. To edit a document click EDIT. After you finish editing a document, click SAVE.

Note:

Deleting a custom document is permanent and cannot be undone.
