C2: Creating & Managing a Case

The Create Case wizard, case header, three-dot menu and case tabs.

Overview

Cases are the core unit of work in Case Chronology. Each case brings together documents, contacts, episodes, a timeline and reports for a single matter. Cases are created using a multi-step wizard.

Note:

Cases can be created by admin and staff users. Presenters have read-only access to cases they are assigned to.

Creating a new case

Click the Create Case button in the bottom-right corner of the Cases list screen. The Create Case wizard opens with the following steps:

What you configure

General

Case name (required), Type, Event date (required), Team, Client (linked company).

Claimant

Details about the claimant — name, date of birth, contact information.

Contacts

Link additional people from your contacts directory and assign their roles.

Details

Additional case metadata and custom fields.

Medicare

Medicare-related information if applicable.

Notifications

Configure notification preferences for this case.

Review + Create

Review all entered information before creating the case.

Managing a case after creation

Once a case is created it appears in the Cases list. Open it by clicking on the case name. Inside the case, the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the case name provides access to:

  • Create document — create a new custom document inside the case.

  • Upload documents — open the upload dialog to add files.

  • Case details — edit all case settings including status, contacts and metadata.

  • Labels — add or remove case labels.

  • Notes — view and add internal notes about the case.

  • Alerts — view notifications and alerts for this case.

  • Share access — give specific users or presenters access to this case.

  • Duplicate — create a copy of the case within your account.

  • Trial mode — enable trial mode for this case.

Case header

At the top of every open case you can see the case name, status badge, EVENT date and DOB. The tab bar below gives access to all sections: Files, Workspace, Chronology, Reports, Templates, Workflows, AI Chat, Search, Duplicates, Messages, Case Shares, Documents Exports, Audit Log, Orders and Calendar.
